Middleby Corporation recently announced the acquisition of GBT Bakery Technology (GBT), a company based in Lünen, Germany. With a focus on engineering and manufacturing high-grade industrial baking and bread lines, GBT brings in annual revenues of approximately €10 million.
According to Tim FitzGerald, CEO of Middleby, “GBT’s customisable equipment highly complements our existing bakery brands and allows us to strengthen our European presence in large scale baking.”
With its expertise in German engineering and integrated full line bakery solutions, GBT’s addition to Middleby’s portfolio will expand offerings and customer base. The acquisition is expected to bring several synergies that will benefit both companies while allowing GBT to utilize Middleby’s well-established customer channels.
GBT’s team of baking experts, with decades of experience in high performance, large volume product systems, specializes in bread, buns, sweet pastries, and other baked goods. The company offers specialty bread systems, tunnel ovens, conveyor baking systems, as well as dough dividers, weighers, and proofers.
Additionally, GBT provides comprehensive customer service, including project conception and management, manufacturing, assembly, training, maintenance, and service. These systems, products, and services will enhance the capabilities of Middleby Bakery full line solutions.
Middleby’s acquisition of GBT is a strategic move to strengthen its position in the food manufacturing industry, particularly in the European market, with a focus on large scale baking.
