By preassembling modules at its production facility in Verona, Italy, GEA is offering customers a seamless and efficient solution to streamline oven installation and reduce production downtime.
Efficiency and speed are at the core of GEA’s approach, recognizing the changing landscape of the bakery industry. Mario Da Ros, senior director project management at GEA, highlights the benefits of plug & play ovens in speeding up the installation process to minimize production downtime. This new approach ensures high-quality installation, as the majority of the work is done at GEA’s own facility.
In a recent study, GEA engineers analyzed the installation process for a 65-meter-long oven and found that traditional installation methods could take around 45 days. However, with the Plug & Play option, this time can be reduced to just 20 days, showcasing significant time and cost savings for customers.
The success of GEA’s Plug & Play service was demonstrated during the installation of a 124-meter-long oven in Indonesia. Gianluca Dolci, senior director project execution at GEA, notes that the preassembled modules allowed for a faster installation process, cutting the time in half compared to traditional methods.
By adopting Plug & Play ovens, GEA predicts a substantial reduction in labor costs as fewer specialized personnel are needed for installation. Additionally, the elimination of rock wool insulation in the baking chamber enhances safety for operators and reduces costs for producers.
Overall, GEA’s innovative approach to oven installation not only saves time and money but also prioritizes safety and efficiency in the food manufacturing industry.
