The event was graced by various distinguished guests, including government officials, regional representatives, and local leaders, who emphasized the importance of innovation in the food industry. Original investors and partners such as the SPI Fund, Astanor Ventures, and Redalpine, demonstrated their steadfast support for Umiami at the inauguration event. Attendees were given a tour of the state-of-the-art facility, showcasing Umiami’s commitment to producing top-quality plant-based alternatives.

Co-founders Tristan Maurel, Martin Habfast, and Clémence Pedraza expressed their gratitude, remarking, “The opening of our factory in Alsace is the culmination of years of innovation, research, and dedication to transforming the food industry. We thank our partners, teams, and communities for their unwavering support as we strive towards a more sustainable and ethical future in food.”

With an investment of €38 million (£32.5 million), Umiami’s new facility symbolizes a key milestone in French reindustrialization and site revitalization. Supported by funding from various sources, the project showcases three years of dedicated development and production scaling, previously undertaken in the Paris region.

Spanning a 3.7-hectare site with a 14,000 m2 area, the factory currently employs 53 staff and boasts an annual production capacity of 7,500 tonnes, with plans to increase to 20,000 tonnes in the future. Strategically located in Europe, the facility positions Umiami as a leading producer of plant-based chicken fillets in Europe and North America.
