Century Pacific Food has solidified its position in the food manufacturing sector by acquiring a coconut-processing plant from Roxas Sigma Agriventures.

In a statement to the Philippines stock exchange, Century Pacific Food announced plans to invest approximately $45 million in purchasing and upgrading the facility.

The facility, located in Tupi, South Cotabato, Mindanao, marks Century Pacific’s third coconut production site in the Philippines.

This new plant specializes in producing coconut cream, coconut milk, and virgin coconut oil, as well as coconut water concentrate.

Century Pacific stated that the planned upgrades will “further expand” its capabilities to meet both domestic and export market demands by “adding new product lines and improving overall efficiency.”

As the brand behind Aqua Coco coconut water, Century Pacific recognizes that this acquisition aligns with the increasing global demand for coconut products, fueled by health and wellness trends.

The company anticipates that its coconut operations will generate approximately 800 manufacturing jobs in Mindanao.

Having entered the coconut segment in 2012 as an OEM exporter of coconut water, Century Pacific has since expanded its partnerships throughout Southeast Asia, including collaborations with Linaco Manufacturing.

In 2019, the company launched a domestic branded coconut line, which now features coconut water, oil, and shredded coconuts.

Noel Tempongko, Jr., vice president and general manager of Century Pacific Food’s OEM coconut exports, commented: “By expanding our capacity in coconuts, we not only enhance our competitiveness in the global coconut industry but also create meaningful economic opportunities for local communities in Mindanao.”

He added, “The additional capacity will allow us to innovate and serve the market with more high-quality, better-for-you coconut products, supporting our mission to deliver affordable nutrition to our consumers.”

In June, the company renewed a long-term supply agreement with The Vita Coco Company.

Valued at approximately 14 billion pesos ($240.7 million), this contract will span five years, commencing in January 2026.

In a separate transaction, Century Pacific acquired assets from Atlantic Natural Foods via its Century Pacific North America unit for “less than” $10 million in August.

According to a stock exchange filing, the group indicated that “the asset purchase enables it to ‘further scale its growing presence in shelf-stable, plant-based nutrition.’”

This deal encompasses the Loma Linda ready meals and Tuno alt-tuna brands, as well as the Neat egg alternative and Kaffree Roma drinks, along with “formulations, select manufacturing assets, licenses, and remaining inventory.”
