Coca-Cola Europacific Partners officially unveils its new state-of-the-art canning line at the Sidcup manufacturing site, signaling a significant advancement in the company’s future soft drinks production. The facility, which celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2021, has received a £28 million investment to install the new line, capable of producing a remarkable 2,000 cans per minute.

This significant investment further underscores CCEP’s dedication to embracing the latest manufacturing technologies, in line with its commitment to sustainable packaging. The new line will support the production of eco-friendly packaging for well-known brands such as Coca-Cola original taste, Diet Coke, Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, Fanta, Dr Pepper, Sprite, and Schweppes.

In addition to its technological advancements, CCEP is also committed to fostering a more diverse workforce at the Sidcup site, as part of its ‘Everyone is Welcome’ ethos. This initiative includes encouraging women and others who may not have considered a career in manufacturing previously to explore new opportunities.

To support its diversity efforts, the company has evolved its recruitment practices to focus on skills and aptitude, rather than solely historical qualifications. Furthermore, CCEP is offering more flexible working options to employees, catering to a variety of lifestyles.

Moreover, CCEP’s apprenticeship program has expanded in recent years, targeting individuals of all ages and skill levels to create pathways for those interested in entering the workforce or shifting career direction. The Sidcup site has supported 21 apprentices through its career builder and early careers offering since the program’s inception.

Karl Probert, operations director at Coca-Cola Europacific Partners Sidcup, expressed pride in the dedicated workforce of almost 400, highlighting their crucial role in continuously evolving the manufacturing operations. He emphasized the significance of the new high-speed canning line, which utilizes the latest manufacturing innovations to produce beloved consumer brands right from the Sidcup facility.

Stephen Moorhouse, vice-president and general manager of Coca-Cola Europacific Partners (GB), reflected on the company’s longstanding presence in the Sidcup community, with over £120 million invested in the factory since 2017. This investment not only supports the local economy but also aligns with the company’s commitment to achieving net zero emissions.

Louie French MP commended CCEP’s latest investment in the new canning line, recognizing the company’s dedication to the local community and its ongoing efforts to reduce plastic usage and implement more sustainable packaging. He also commended the business’s initiatives to promote diversity in the sector.

The official opening of the new canning line at the Sidcup manufacturing site is a significant milestone for Coca-Cola Europacific Partners, demonstrating the company’s leadership in manufacturing innovation, sustainable practices, and commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce.
