Leading food manufacturing company, Britvic, is investing £22.5 million in its sixth bottling line at its East London factory in Beckton – creating 18 new jobs in the community. The demand for Britvic’s products is growing, and the new line is specifically designed to support the company’s long-term growth ambitions in Britain, while also increasing production capacity at the site by nearly 30%.

The official opening of the new line was attended by Britvic CEO Simon Litherland, Chairman Ian Durant, and Supply Chain Director Nigel Paine. This state-of-the-art facility will produce popular brands such as Tango and Pepsi MAX, with the first products expected to hit shelves in early September.

Nigel Paine, Britvic’s Supply Chain Director, expressed his excitement: “Opening the sixth bottling line at Beckton is a significant milestone in our ongoing investments to strengthen our supply chain. With our continuous growth and increasing demand, expanding our capacity at the Beckton site enables us to achieve our goals and build a resilient business.”

The sixth line boasts cutting-edge manufacturing equipment, unlocking new technological capabilities for faster and more efficient production. As the line’s commissioning process concludes, the new team members will undergo a 12-week training course, equipping them with the technical expertise required to manage the new installation.

This expansion will create employment opportunities in engineering and manufacturing roles, bringing the total workforce at the site to over 240 individuals.

In addition, Britvic recently announced an £8 million investment to enhance energy efficiency at the Beckton site. The company aims to reduce carbon emissions and promote energy conservation. Britvic has partnered with GEA to implement this state-of-the-art project, with installation commencing this summer, ensuring Beckton’s sustainability for the future.

Over the past few years, Britvic has also invested nearly £40 million in its Rugby factory by installing new canning lines, as well as allocating £19 million for the upgrade of its national distribution centre.
