Mondelez and Lotus Bakeries Unveil Initial Product from New Licensing Partnership Lotus Bakeries, Mondelez International Food and Beverage Business

Mondelez International and Lotus Bakeries have officially launched their first product from the licensing agreement established last year. This collaboration results in the introduction of the Cadbury Dairy Milk Biscoff tablet, now available in the UK and Ireland.

In June of the previous year, the companies announced their plans to develop innovative products that blend Lotus Biscoff biscuits with Mondelez’s popular chocolate brands, including Cadbury and Milka. They aimed to unveil these products to consumers in Europe this year, reflecting a keen interest in food and drink consumer trends.

Connor Gould, the brand manager for Cadbury Dairy Milk in the UK, expressed enthusiasm about this new offering: “Combining two delicious favourites is a great way to give consumers the best of both, creating the perfect pairing for them to enjoy the smooth, creaminess of Cadbury Dairy Milk mixed with the classic crunch and unique flavour of Biscoff that consumers love.”

The 105g chocolate bar carries a recommended retail price of £2 in the UK, while a 95g version is priced at £1.69 for a price-marked SKU and £1.75 otherwise. This pricing strategy aligns with trends in the food and beverage industry, addressing the growing demand for unique snack combinations.

Moreover, the partnership between Mondelez and Lotus extends beyond this chocolate innovation. The agreement includes plans for Mondelez to manufacture, market, and distribute Biscoff biscuits in India, leveraging its existing production network to meet local demand.

In a related development, the companies recently announced a partnership in the ice cream sector. UK-based Froneri, known for producing ice cream under license for various snack companies, including Mondelez, will now produce Lotus Biscoff-branded ice cream. This new product line is set to launch next year, with Froneri managing its production, marketing, and distribution across several European countries, with further expansion planned for 2027 and 2028.

Belgium-based Lotus Bakeries has described this arrangement as a “sub-licence agreement” connected to its existing deal with Mondelez. This collaboration exemplifies the evolving landscape of the food and drink business.
