JBS, a Brazilian beef industry leader, is expanding its Green Offices (GO) program with the opening of three new offices in Araguaína, Naviraí Vilhena. The program aims to increase environmental services among cattlemen in Brazil. The GO program already has 18 service points across the country and the new offices will improve service distribution in these regions.
The selection of these cities was based on data collected from a survey conducted by Friboi, a JBS company and leader in the Brazilian beef segment. Friboi studied the regions that have seen the most benefit from the GO services and those that require specialized technical assistance. Since its inception, the GO program has helped over 4,800 cattle farmers meet environmental compliance and standard requirements, with over 1,000 hectares of dedicated forest recovery.
In addition to offering free legal and environmental advice, cattle farmers can obtain financial credit to assist them with meeting environmental standards. The GO project has also developed a free online platform called the Transparent Livestock Platform, which leverages blockchain to enable producers to monitor whether their young animal suppliers follow environmental regulations. The aim is to increase transparency and traceability across the chain.
According to Liège Correia, Friboi’s Sustainability Director, “We need to create inclusive actions and positive impact by providing free social, environmental, and technical assistance and support producers in the process of making their properties compliant. This way, we can contribute to making the Brazilian cattle-raising chain even more sustainable.”
The GO program has become a vital resource for cattlemen across Brazil. It not only provides them with the necessary resources to meet environmental standards but also helps to create a more inclusive and sustainable industry.
