Pilgrim’s Pride unit Pilgrim’s Europe plans to close a snacking products factory in Spurway, west London, affecting 270 employees. Positions at all levels are at risk of redundancies, as per a spokesperson for Pilgrim’s Europe said. The decision is part of the business’s ongoing effort to optimize operational footprint for a sustainable future.
Negotiations with union representatives will commence shortly, exploring options for relocation to other Pilgrim’s Europe sites. The company’s commitment to investing in its heritage and providing high-quality food solutions remains steadfast.
The Spurway site previously produced specialty snacks for the UK retail market, including cocktail sausages and scotch eggs. Moy Park, the brand owner, has been asked to confirm details about the site and closure timeline.
Earlier this year, Pilgrim’s Food Masters announced the closure of another UK factory, affecting 260 jobs. This decision led to consultations with staff and concerns raised by the British trade union GMB.
