Chobani Purchases US Frozen Foods Company Daily Harvest

Chobani Purchases US Frozen Foods Company Daily Harvest acquires, Chobani, Daily Harvest, frozen foods, maker, US Food and Beverage Business

US-based yoghurt and creamers maker Chobani has acquired local frozen-food business Daily Harvest.

In a joint statement, both companies indicated that the undisclosed deal marks Chobani’s entry into wholesome, ready-to-make meals.

Founded in 2015, Daily Harvest specializes in frozen, single-serve products, which include smoothies, breakfast bowls, and savoury meals.

Initially established as a direct-to-consumer business, Daily Harvest continues to sell products through its website and has expanded to retailers like Target, Kroger, and Wegmans.

Notably, in 2017, the company secured investment from celebrity figures Gwyneth Paltrow and Serena Williams.

In their official statement, Chobani and Daily Harvest proclaimed that they “are united by a shared vision: to make high-quality, delicious food with real ingredients more accessible.”

Moreover, they emphasized, “With Chobani’s world-class manufacturing, distribution, and retail expertise, our goal is for Daily Harvest to reach every home in America.”

In a LinkedIn post, Rachel Drori, Daily Harvest’s founder and executive chair, expressed that “Chobani is the perfect home for Daily Harvest – our missions align so deeply, and we couldn’t be more excited to continue growing together.”

In a blog post, Daily Harvest reassured its customer base that “all the things you love will stay the same,” including its product lineup, website, and care team.

This acquisition comes on the heels of Chobani’s recent investments in production capabilities.

Last month, the company announced a $1.2bn investment into a new 1.4 million square foot production facility located in Rome, New York.

This plant, Chobani’s third in the US, will feature up to 28 production lines and is designed to process around 12 million pounds of milk daily.

In March, Chobani also disclosed a $500m expansion project at its facility in Twin Falls, Idaho. This expansion aims to grow the site, which produces Chobani yoghurt, oat milk, and coffee creamers, by over 500,000ft2, with a targeted 50% increase in production capacity.

The acquisition of Daily Harvest reflects Chobani’s strategic approach to expand its product portfolio through M&A endeavors. In December, the company successfully acquired US coffee business La Colombe for $900m.
