Campbell Soup Co. to discontinue soup production at US plant Campbell Soup Co. Food and Beverage Business

Campbell Soup Co., a US soups and snacks processor, has announced plans to discontinue canned soup production at its factory in Paris, Texas. This decision reflects a strategic shift towards focusing solely on the production of sauce brands.

The Paris factory, which currently produces Campbell’s sauce brands such as Prego Italian sauces and Pace salsa, as well as a portion of the company’s soup volumes, will undergo a transformation into Campbell’s flagship sauce facility. This move follows a thorough analysis of the plant’s role in the company’s supply chain network.

As part of this transition, production of the company’s tinned soup brands, including Campbell’s and Goldfish, will be relocated to other manufacturing sites. The soup line at the Paris facility is expected to cease operations within the next two years, affecting approximately 300 employees out of the 680 currently employed at the plant. Campbell Soup Co. has committed to providing support and assistance to impacted employees during this transition period.

In a related development, Campbell Soup Co. recently announced closures affecting 415 positions across various sites. These closures include the shutdown of the Tualatin, Oregon facility, which produces Pacific Foods’ organic soups, broths, and plant-based drinks, as well as the scaling down of crisps production at the Jeffersonville, Indiana site to focus on tortilla chips. These strategic moves are part of the company’s ongoing efforts to optimize its supply chain, drive business growth, and enhance operational efficiency.
