David’s Kitchen is a group of three stores in Glenrothes, Falkirk, and Kirkcaldy. The focus of these stores is on freshly made food, available for immediate consumption or to take home. Each store has its own kitchen, and fresh prepared products sold in-store now account for up to 40% of sales.

In Musselburgh, there is the Pinkie Farm convenience store. This large store puts a strong emphasis on fresh foods and kitchen products.

David Sands, in reference to their move to Spar Scotland and wholesaler CJ Land & Son, stated, “Having the full support of the Spar brand and the team at Dundee means we can offer our local shoppers a substantial range of products and great service.” This move has resulted in more reliable supplies for their stores, as the Dundee depot is in close proximity.

The recent re-branding of the stores has been positively received. However, this is just the first step for David’s Kitchen. The company plans to continue implementing promotions and expanding their range of fresh foods to stay ahead of the competition. Their partnership with Spar Scotland and CJ Lang & Son gives them the confidence to move their business forward.

Keith Fernie, managing director of David’s Kitchen, highlights the excellent service they receive from Spar Scotland and CJ Lang & Son. Deliveries and communication have been flawless, ensuring the stores have consistent stock availability.

CJ Lang & Son has been the stock supplier for all four stores, actively collaborating with the David Sands Group. They have worked on the design, look, and feel of the stores, which are now branded as Spar Market stores. Significant effort has been put into store layouts, improving the overall product range, and expanding the range of Spar own-label products.

At Pinkie Farm, a new sub-brand called Carla’s Kitchen has been introduced. It is integrated into the in-store food-to-go area and is also featured in the external store design.

Dan Brown, Managing Director of Pinkie Farm, expresses satisfaction with the reception of the Spar brand by their customers. They have been able to maintain and expand their range of chill and fresh products while benefiting from promotions and new product development. The store design team has successfully brought their unique selling points to life, and they look forward to further growth in the future.
