Gitesh Adeshara collaborated with the Liam Taylor Legacy charity to establish a bleed control unit in her store, Winsford News, located on Winsford Avenue. This philanthropic initiative stemmed from the memory of Liam, a local teenager who tragically lost his life due to a stabbing incident in 2020. By setting up the Liam Taylor Legacy, they have successfully installed the 15th bleed control unit.
The movement to encourage retailers nationwide to install these life-saving bleed control kits has gained support from Independent Retail News and TalkingRetail.com. These platforms have played a crucial role in spreading awareness about the significance of having such kits readily available, particularly in the immediate aftermath of stabbing incidents. This campaign has received substantial reinforcement from Lynne Baird, an advocate of the Daniel Baird Foundation, who has tirelessly advocated for wider access to these kits.
Lynne Baird’s dedication to this cause led to her being honored with an MBE in the New Year’s Honours List last year. In 2017, she established the Daniel Baird Foundation after her own son, Daniel, lost his life at the age of 26 due to catastrophic bleeding from a stabbing occurrence outside a nightclub in Birmingham.
By implementing bleed control units and raising awareness about their importance, individuals and communities can take a proactive approach in saving lives during critical situations. These initiatives serve as an essential step towards creating safer environments where immediate medical assistance can be provided when emergencies arise.
