Shell Medway, a leading retailer, has proudly made a generous donation to Medway Pride CIC, a volunteer-led organization dedicated to promoting equality and diversity in the Medway area. This significant contribution was made through Nisa’s Making a Difference Locally (MADL) charity, which supports various community initiatives.

Medway Pride CIC’s flagship event, the Medway Pride festival, is a massive success and draws in thousands of attendees from across the region each year. It serves as a platform for individuals to express their identity and fosters a sense of inclusivity and celebration within the community.

Expressing their support for the cause, the manager of Shell Medway, Stephen Pocknall, stated, “We at Shell Medway are proud to be associated with Pride and fully endorse its values. We firmly believe that everyone should have the freedom to express themselves and celebrate their individuality. To this end, we are dedicated to creating a community that is more inclusive and welcoming.”

In response to the generous donation from Shell Medway, the chairperson of Medway Pride CIC, Sarah Jones, expressed her gratitude, stating, “We are incredibly thankful to Shell Medway for their kind and substantial contribution. This funding will greatly assist us in pursuing our mission of promoting diversity and equality in the Medway area. We are excited to allocate these funds towards supporting our upcoming events and activities.”

The highly-anticipated Medway Pride festival is scheduled to take place on the 23rd of September, garnering immense anticipation within the community. It serves as an opportunity for individuals to come together, celebrate their identities, and support the LGBTQ+ cause.

The donation was made possible through Nisa’s Pride Pot, a charitable initiative launched in June with a fund of £50,000 to support LGBTQ+ community groups and charities. Kate Carroll, the head of charity at Nisa, expressed her delight, stating, “We are thrilled to offer dedicated funding for LGBTQ+ communities, and we are delighted that Shell Medway is among the first retailers to access this funding for their community in Kent.”

Shell Medway’s philanthropic endeavors exemplify their commitment to the community and their dedication to creating a more inclusive society. Their contribution will undoubtedly have a lasting impact on the promotion of equality and diversity in the Medway area.
