Site surveys for future equipment upgrades are progressing smoothly. Allwyn will be contacting National Lottery retailers to inform them about electronically transferring their existing Retailer Agreement from Camelot to Allwyn. This transfer must be completed by the latest deadline of 18 December 2023. To ensure a seamless transition of the National Lottery service, communications and reminders will increase in the coming months.
As part of the transfer process, retailers will gain access to an online portal where they can review their new Retailer Agreement. Retail sales executives from Camelot, acting on behalf of Allwyn, will visit retailers in the next few months to explain the key changes and address any questions regarding the Agreement before signing through the portal. For convenience, the portal will be compatible with smartphones and will contain a user-friendly ‘how to’ video and written guides for ease of transfer.
The new agreement will maintain the same commission levels for National Lottery Draw-Based Games, Scratchcards, and prize payments. Payment terms will remain consistent across all games. Bonds and direct debit mandates currently in place with Camelot will automatically transfer to Allwyn.
Effective with the Fourth National Lottery Licence, Allwyn will eliminate the monthly lease fees for existing Compact Lottery Terminal (CLT) retailers. This change will save some retailers up to £600 per year. Additionally, Allwyn will introduce additional player protection measures and support.
Most changes to the agreement have arisen due to changes in the law and the transition to the Fourth National Lottery Licence. These changes include simple name revisions to reflect Allwyn as the new operator, modernizing the language used in the Agreement, updating conditions to align with recent changes in laws, especially regarding data protection and record keeping, and merging Camelot’s agreements for its two different terminal types into one.
Allwyn and Camelot have jointly established a timeline of events for the next six months leading up to 1 February. This timeline includes ongoing site surveys conducted by Momentum In-store until the end of September, a series of planned Lotto and EuroMillions event draws during summer and autumn, and National Lottery Christmas activities, such as festive Scratchcards and special event draws, to ensure the continued success of The National Lottery during the remainder of the Third Licence.
After the 18 December agreement transfer deadline, retailers can anticipate receiving a ‘Welcome to Allwyn’ pack in the early New Year. This pack will provide more information on what to expect from 1 February, including initial details of new and improved National Lottery games starting in March 2024. Retailers will also receive information on the digital training they must complete prior to the changeover.
In the meantime, retailers do not need to take any action until they receive details about the online portal.
Katharine Challinor, Allwyn’s retail director, stated, “Retailers will soon hear from us regarding the easy transfer of their existing Retailer Agreement. Their Camelot Retail Sales Executive will also visit their store, guiding them through the process and addressing any inquiries.”
“We would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to National Lottery retailers for their ongoing support and their vital role in raising £30 million every week for Good Causes across the UK.”
