Amcor (NYSE: AMCR, ASX: AMC), a prominent global player in the development and production of sustainable packaging solutions, has garnered two prestigious accolades for its initiatives. The Amcor Circularity Polymers project was awarded Gold in the 2026 Sustainability and Impact Awards, organized by the UK B2B publication Packaging News, while Amcor’s innovative stick developed for haircare brand Cut By Fred received a Silver award in the Beauty and Personal Care category.
The top honor in the Sustainable Innovation and Investment category was conferred upon Amcor Circularity Polymers’ CleanStream® system, which effectively transforms household polypropylene (PP) waste into high-quality recycled plastic suitable for both contact-sensitive and non-contact-sensitive applications. Utilizing a sophisticated multi-step, AI-driven process including automated identification and decontamination, this initiative transcends basic material recycling to achieve exceptional polymer purity. This level of purity permits the recycled polymer to be utilized in areas like beauty and cosmetics without sacrificing aesthetic, protective, or functional performance.
Building upon similar methodologies employed for contact-sensitive post-consumer recycled (PCR) applications, CleanStream® Home and Industrial serves a variety of functions. The high purity of the recycled polymer enables a higher percentage mix in products requiring superior functional capabilities, such as trigger spray heads and components of paint container assemblies, including the lid, ring, and handle.
Ellen Seyda, sustainability director at Amcor’s RPSI, expressed enthusiasm, stating: “We are delighted to have won gold in this highly competitive category. Our ability to produce this premium PCR PP for both contact- and non-contact sensitive applications is a significant step forward in enhancing plastic circularity. CleanStream® provides a compelling value proposition for recycling and packaging, demonstrating how companies can achieve more sustainability while driving business success.”
For Cut By Fred, Amcor designed an Exclusive stick tailored for its refillable solution, facilitating accurate dispensing and easy integration of the refill into the original packaging. This design minimizes formula contact to reduce the risk of contamination. Furthermore, the stick is produced entirely from PP, ensuring that the packaging can be recycled, where appropriate recycling facilities are available, at the end of its life cycle.
Marine Sueur, regional sales director for France at Amcor, remarked: “To achieve recognition for our work with Cut By Fred is the perfect demonstration of how Amcor can help companies to become more sustainable in line with the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR). This solution enhances the customer experience without compromising the performance and effectiveness of the packaging.”
Additionally, Amcor’s project for Decathlon’s Sun care stick was shortlisted in the Beauty and Personal Care category. Featuring 87% recycled post-consumer resin (rPP), each applicator contributes to a 17% reduction in CO2 emissions compared to virgin resin. Amcor’s CleanStream® is a key element of Decathlon’s strategy to minimize its environmental impact.
