United Caps is broadening its carton closure portfolio with a flexible sourcing approach based on a straightforward proposition: “Change the cap, keep the complex.”

Carton packaging has traditionally been purchased as one tightly integrated system, combining the packaging complex, filling machinery, and closure through a single supplier. Although this model can streamline initial technical integration, it may restrict purchasing flexibility when companies face supply chain constraints, changing lead times, or evolving commercial requirements.

To address these challenges, United Caps supplies high-performance carton closures designed to work with both existing and alternative complexes. The closures operate on current tethered and non-tethered filling lines without requiring equipment modifications or changes to machine settings, helping manufacturers respond more effectively to food manufacturing trends and shifting food distribution trends.

Established performance

The current range is anchored by the proven 23 H-PAK, which reflects almost 20 years of United Caps experience in carton closure development. Its consumer-focused tethered design locks securely in the open position while staying completely away from the pouring zone. As a result, users benefit from a clear, uninterrupted pour.

Future portfolio development

United Caps will build on this established platform with the planned launch of the 27 H-PAK, available for both Alu and Alu-Free complexes, scheduled for the end of 2027. The new solution has completed extensive testing and validation, giving manufacturers an additional option as they establish future carton packaging specifications and evaluate advances in food processing technology.

Supporting PPWR and sustainability goals

Brand owners and packaging procurement specialists are placing greater emphasis on recyclability and supply continuity as they prepare for the demanding requirements of the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR). In response, United Caps can manufacture both the 23 H-PAK and 27 H-PAK with mass-balanced bio-based resins or recycled materials. This enables brands to strengthen their environmental performance and progress toward regulatory objectives while continuing to use their existing packaging equipment.

“A closure is one component of the carton pack. Buyers should be able to evaluate and source it according to the same technical and commercial criteria as any other component, without changing the rest of the line. We are here to give buyers that choice,” said Alan Quéméneur, chief growth officer at United Caps.

The expanded range supports numerous applications across the food and beverage industry, including dairy products, juices, stocks, soups, and selected non-liquid goods. It also reflects wider food and drink industry innovation, food and drink sustainability priorities, food and drink regulations, food and drink packaging developments, food and drink marketing requirements, and evolving food and drink consumer trends.
