The newly launched ‘The Power of You’ campaign follows the success of the ‘She Looks Like Me’ initiative. Aimed at showcasing best practices of inclusivity within the meat industry, this campaign tells inspiring stories of industry professionals while empowering and boosting confidence in women across all career stages.
The launch of ‘The Power of You’ is a response to the MBW’s 2023 Global Gender Representation Report, which highlights a decline in the overall number of women employed in the global meat workforce, despite an increase in women holding board level, director, and chief executive roles.
While over half of industry professionals (53%) believe that inclusivity has gained more attention since 2020, there is still work to be done.

Role Models Driving Change
‘The Power of You’ campaign will spotlight role models within the meat industry and encourage individuals to take three important steps: identify their key strengths and skills, amplify their voices and take action, and share their experiences and knowledge to support others.
Laura Ryan, global chair of Meat Business Women, emphasizes the necessity of inclusion by stating, “The data tells us that inclusion is no longer a ‘nice-to-have’, but a necessity if the meat industry is to thrive. If we truly want to create positive change and build a supportive and inclusive sector, we must come together and take action.”
The campaign launch will be accompanied by a series of videos featuring influential figures in the meat industry sharing their career journeys. The first video, featuring Monisha Singh, senior customer marketing manager at Kepak, will be released on 12 September.
Recognizing Your Value
Singh reflects on her experience by stating, “Another person’s belief in me gave me the confidence to pursue opportunities I wouldn’t have considered otherwise. They saw value in me that I hadn’t acknowledged, reinforcing the idea that my unique skillset contributes to the business. Their encouragement and belief truly embody what The Power of You campaign represents.”
To encourage industry participation, MBW invites anyone working in the meat industry to engage with the campaign on social media. Additionally, they provide a free downloadable media kit on the Meat Business Women website.
Ryan concludes, “We urge everyone in the meat industry, be it businesses or individuals, to download the media kit, share our campaign videos, and contribute their own #ThePowerOfYou content. Let us empower others and create a more inclusive sector.”
