Magnavale Ltd, one of the UK’s premier specialists in temperature-controlled food storage, proudly announces the official opening of Magnavale Easton. This £140 million investment has transformed the site into a facility boasting 101,000 frozen pallet spaces, making it the largest cold store ever constructed in the UK. Officially inaugurated on the 24th of March 2025, this development revitalizes a long-standing food production site near Grantham, Lincolnshire. The state-of-the-art cold storage warehouse is poised to make a significant contribution to UK food security while establishing a new standard for sustainable food logistics.

As possibly the UK’s first cold storage facility powered entirely by renewable energy, Magnavale Easton embodies the company’s unwavering commitment to sustainability and operational efficiency. Featuring 101,000 cutting-edge, fully automated pallet positions along with a high-bay, rack-centric storage design, the facility guarantees seamless storage and distribution for food manufacturers, retailers, and suppliers.

“Magnavale Easton is more than just a storage facility; it is a transformative development for the UK’s food supply chain,” stated Amanda Cogan, COO of Magnavale. “By integrating renewable energy, advanced automation, and a comprehensive portfolio of value-added services, we are helping our customers reduce costs, risks, and complexities within their supply chains while fostering sustainable long-term growth and investments in the local Lincolnshire economy.”

A Strategic Hub for UK Food Logistics

Strategically located off the A1, between Grantham and Peterborough, Magnavale Easton ensures efficient distribution access across the UK.

In addition to its industry-leading automated cold storage capabilities, the facility will provide an extensive suite of value-added services, including blast freezing, contract packing, and various other offerings.

A Vision of the Future of British Food Supply

This landmark development aligns with a long-term vision for site regeneration, previously occupied by a major McCain Foods production facility. The Easton site aims to evolve into an integrated hub for food production, storage, and distribution, supporting manufacturers and retailers with comprehensive cold chain solutions.

Significantly, the next steps in this initiative are already in motion. In February 2025, the site received planning permission for further exciting advancements, including a biodigester and a sizable food production facility.

Magnavale Easton is now operational, delivering efficient, safe, and sustainable cold chain solutions designed to revolutionize food supply chains both locally and nationally.

Magnavale currently operates four strategically positioned cold storage facilities across the UK. By leading innovation within the sector, Magnavale strives to create sustainable supply chains for its partners, effectively minimizing costs, risks, and complexity.

Rapid expansion has characterized Magnavale, which has developed a substantial 25,000 pallet extension at its Chesterfield facilities, alongside the impressive 101,000 pallet fully automated cold store in Easton, Lincolnshire, that opened in March 2025.

Sadel Group, the parent company of Magnavale, is driving the Easton Food Hub project forward as part of its operational real estate development strategy. This Luxembourg-based family office plans to expand the innovative “Food Hub” model to new locations across the UK and Europe. The Food Hub concept integrates food manufacturing, processing, and the supply chain, effectively reducing costs, risks, and complexities within the food chain.
