ViviOn is a groundbreaking family of cyclic block copolymers (CBC), fully hydrogenated by USI Corporation. This innovative line enhances the product portfolio of the German distributor Dreyplas. Each grade boasts exceptional purity, alongside low density, high transparency, minimal water absorption, and a reduced amount of extractables. Depending on the microstructure chosen, its mechanical properties can range from rigid to soft. ViviOn is versatile; it can function as a separate layer in multilayer films or serve as a blend partner with PE or PP. Applications of this advanced polymer extend across various sectors, including food and drink packaging, medical devices, biodiagnostics, UVC disinfection, optics, and IC manufacturing.
Enhanced Barrier Effect with Metallized Films
Due to their outstanding barrier properties, vacuum-metallized cast films play a pivotal role in multilayer packaging. However, the relatively low stiffness and strength of substrates made from pure PE or PP can lead to crack formation in the ultra-thin metal layer when under stress. Consequently, this compromises the integrity of the packaging, allowing oxygen and moisture to infiltrate, which can diminish the shelf life of the contents.
Incorporating blends with ViviOn 8210XT significantly enhances stiffness while maintaining flexibility, thereby minimizing the risk of cracking. Depending on your application, this improvement may facilitate the use of more material-efficient films at reduced thicknesses. Furthermore, this CBC enhances the tear propagation resistance of the film, which is vital for easy-opening applications. Notably, ViviOn 8210XT comes with a “Recyclability of Packaging Material” certificate from the cyclos-HTP Institute and holds approval for use in food and drink sustainable packaging as well as pharmaceutical applications.
