UPM Specialty Papers is poised to invest over 10 million euros in modernizing the UPM Tervasaari mill located in Valkeakoski, Finland. This strategic investment will enhance capacity and production stability for its specialized products, notably in food and drink packaging, glassines, and flexible packaging papers.
“UPM Specialty Papers has over 40 years of experience producing highly demanding specialty papers. This investment underscores our commitment to serving customers in the label, tape, and industrial value chains, as well as packaging,” emphasizes Tomi Lonka, Senior Vice President, Global Specialty Papers, UPM Specialty Papers.
The modernization initiative encompasses a rebuild of the paper machine’s drying section along with an upgrade to the related steam system. Anticipated for completion by the end of 2026, this project demonstrates UPM’s ongoing commitment to operational excellence. In recent years, UPM has also invested approximately 20 million euros to enhance energy efficiency at the Tervasaari mill, highlighted by the installation of a new electric boiler in 2023.
