UPM Raflatac is thrilled to introduce its new swatchbooks tailored for wine, spirits, beverage, and premium labeling. Available in both compact and larger formats within the EMEIA market, these swatchbooks enable printers, brands, and designers to evaluate the texture, color, and overall aesthetics of an extensive array of high-quality label materials.

“Swatchbooks are essential tools for printers and designers, providing both a visual and tactile feel of label materials. Our goal was to present our solutions in a way which is both user-friendly and uniquely inspirational for the target market,” states Stefano Pistoni, Senior Manager of Business Growth for Wine and Spirits Label Solutions at UPM Raflatac.

The swatchbooks showcase UPM Raflatac’s SmartChoice™ paper and filmic solutions. These innovative materials assist brand owners in minimizing their environmental footprint through offerings with recycled content and renewable or resource-optimized raw materials. Users can access detailed product information via QR codes embedded throughout the swatchbook. Featured SmartChoice solutions include:

  • Carbon Action PP UCO, an ISCC PLUS certified bio-circular face film consisting of 30% renewable content by mass-balance, facilitating measurable carbon footprint reduction.
  • Forest Film, recognized as the world’s first ISCC certified wood-based plastic label material.
  • Ocean Action, the first certified label material aimed at combating ocean-bound plastic pollution.
  • Drops WSA PCR-FSC, a unique textured paper composed entirely of recycled fibers.

In developing the swatchbook design, UPM Raflatac collaborated with the award-winning design agency Maba. Additionally, Grafical, an industry-leading printer, contributed to this project. By partnering with such established members of the value chain, UPM Raflatac gathered insights directly from users to enhance the overall user experience.

“The stunning design of the new swatchbooks draws inspiration from UPM’s Finnish heritage and the beauty of Nordic nature. This influence, combined with innovative design traditions, is reflected in the new swatchbooks, featuring shapes reminiscent of Finnish lakes and a nature-inspired aesthetic,” explains Carles Anadon, Senior Manager of Business Growth for Consumer Label Solutions at UPM Raflatac.

The swatchbooks will make their official debut at Packaging Première, part of Paris Packaging Week 2025, on January 28-29 at stand B22.
