The company achieved a 37.8 percent reduction in carbon emissions intensity relative to revenue and earned Ecovadis ISO Platinum standard accreditation in EMEA, showcasing its relentless pursuit of operational excellence. Tosca diverted 284,000 metric tons of cardboard from global supply chains, culminating in over 2.4 million metric tons diverted since 2000, thanks to customers embracing its reusable solutions. “As an industry leader, our mission to revolutionize the flow of goods through the food supply chain eliminates waste at every turn and creates a global ripple effect for achieving sustainability objectives for our customers and beyond. That’s why we’re unwavering in our pursuit of new methods to assist our customers in transitioning to reusable packaging while enhancing our organizational resilience,” states Karin Witton, Global Sustainability Director.
Customer Partnerships Driving Sustainability
Tosca collaborates closely with customers as a trusted partner to drive transformative change through end-to-end supply chain optimization. Its support extends beyond sustainable pooling and reusable packaging assets, encompassing consulting services on navigating new regulations, identifying supply chain applications of emerging technologies, and aiding customers in the implementation of automated environments.
In 2023, Tosca joined forces with Simpsons Beverages to tackle supply, safety, and sustainability challenges. By transitioning to Tosca’s Superior Hybrid Intermediate Bulk Containers (IBCs) for liquid and pooling models, Simpsons Beverages realized enhanced sustainability, increased operational efficiency, and reduced overall costs. This partnership also positioned them for future growth and environmental compliance.
Tosca’s Vision for the Future – Leading the Reusable Revolution
Tosca is committed to harnessing data, enhancing digitization, and leveraging its expertise to support customers in reducing food waste, emissions, and costs. The company aims to adopt a more integrated approach to packaging by promoting the elimination of single-use alternatives and advancing reusable secondary and tertiary packaging solutions.
Looking ahead to 2025 and beyond, Tosca will continue advocating for regulatory changes that prioritize reusable assets and pooling services over recycling packaging wherever feasible, positioning reusables as a more sustainable alternative. Additionally, it will seek exemptions from packaging taxes for reusable solutions. The company also plans to utilize innovations such as Tosca Asset IQ™ to minimize food damage, enhance stock control, and promote sustainability throughout the supply chain. By partnering with customers on their sustainability journeys, Tosca will provide guidance and data aimed at reducing Scope 3 emissions, cutting costs, and bringing products to market. With its strategic vision, Tosca will remain a leader in the reusable revolution.
