Roberts Mart, the UK’s leading independent flexible packaging manufacturer, has announced a significant investment in its Leeds facility. This move underscores the company’s commitment to enhancing its operational capabilities.

Building on last year’s substantial investments in both machinery and facility upgrades, Roberts Mart has allocated an additional £3.2 million for the acquisition of cutting-edge machinery. This commitment reflects the firm’s proactive approach to meeting market demands.

As a sixth-generation, family-owned business, Roberts Mart continues to invest heavily in high-tech machinery. Notable additions include a new laminator from Nordmeccanica, a Joker® bag machine scheduled for installation in June, and a stand-up pouch conversion machine from Karlville in Switzerland, expected later this year.

Moreover, the company has ordered a three-layer Optimex film extruder from Windmöller & Hölscher, set to be installed in February 2026. This advanced line produces consistent, high-quality film with increased output rates and enhanced flexibility. It effectively accommodates all types of polyethylene, including recycled materials.

The investment in new machinery supports Roberts Mart’s ongoing growth, particularly in the food and beverage packaging sectors. With a focus on innovation, the company aims to meet the evolving needs of its customers.

“Staying ahead of the competition and investing in the future is a fundamental part of our business strategy,” states Ben Roberts, Marketing Director. “These significant investments demonstrate the firm’s commitment to developing and offering customers a wide range of innovative packaging solutions that fit budget and sustainability goals.”

In addition to major machinery, the company has acquired various ancillary equipment, including an automatic labeller for applying RFID labels on bags and a continuous sealer for adding heat seals to film on reel applications. This equipment will enhance operational efficiency.

Founded in 1852, Roberts Mart remains a family-run business and currently employs over 245 staff. It supplies packaging solutions for brands across the UK and Europe, primarily within the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sectors. Forecasts indicate that the company’s turnover will exceed £53 million by the end of 2025.
