RDM Group proudly announces the launch of Vincicoat PLUS (V+), a revolutionary coated recycled cartonboard that enhances strength while significantly reducing packaging weight, making it an ideal choice for food and drink packaging.
Narrowing the Performance Gap with Virgin Board
Traditionally, recycled cartonboard has been viewed as weaker than virgin options. However, Vincicoat PLUS is meticulously engineered to address this perception. It delivers strength that surpasses standard WLC offerings by 15-20%, while ensuring a minimum of 85% recycled fibre content. This advancement positions V+ as an optimal choice for sustainable packaging in the food and drink sector.
With outstanding square stiffness, V+ excels in resisting stress during bending in both machine and cross directions. As the strongest GD board (WLC) RDM Group has introduced to date, it provides superior performance in creasing and folding during sheet conversion. Consequently, this results in packaging structures capable of withstanding higher compression resistance, leading to impressive top- and side-load values for the final box structure.
For environments requiring durability in frozen and humid conditions, V+ is available as a hard-sized option, showcasing remarkably low water absorbency.
Prioritizing Reduction for Sustainability
As sustainability becomes a paramount concern for brand owners and retailers, the introduction of Vincicoat PLUS marks a significant shift towards not only recycling but also reduction. RDM Group has long been a leader in recyclable, circular cartonboard solutions, and V+ embodies this commitment.
The enhanced structural integrity of Vincicoat PLUS empowers converters and brand owners to either lower the final packaging weight by up to 20% or maintain existing grammages while markedly increasing pack strength and product protection. This approach facilitates reduced material usage, which subsequently lowers resource demand and enhances efficiency. Ultimately, this yields environmental benefits by decreasing deforestation and economic advantages through optimized packaging material utilization.
Demonstrated Performance in Challenging Applications
Vincicoat PLUS has undergone rigorous external laboratory testing, encompassing box compression and top-load strength assessments, along with high-speed conversion trials executed in coordination with converter partners. Additionally, pressure testing on hard-sized board (Cobb 180 seconds) has been conducted under freezing and elevated humidity conditions.
This innovative board operates efficiently through printing, cutting, and box-forming processes, making it particularly suitable for demanding applications, such as large boxes that require high structural integrity, rapid food and pharmaceutical packing lines, frozen and chilled food packaging, and heavier contents like cosmetics, soaps, and detergents.
Multi-Mill Heritage and Excellence in Manufacturing
The launch of Vincicoat PLUS is also bolstered by RDM Group’s expansive multi-mill manufacturing capabilities. Through the integration of the esteemed Swedish Fiskeby mill, known for producing the industry’s strongest recycled cartonboard, RDM Group has successfully scaled this high performance across its European network.
Engineered and produced at RDM Group’s Santa Giustina mill in Italy, Vincicoat PLUS ensures consistent quality and reliability across Europe, solidifying its position as a leading choice for sustainable food and drink packaging.
A Sustainable Choice without Compromising Performance
“When performance is no longer the trade-off, recycled cartonboard becomes the obvious choice,” said Krzysztof Krajewski, Chief Sustainability and Innovation Officer at RDM Group.
“With Vincicoat PLUS, brand owners can obtain the strength, durability, and reliability essential for their packaging, protecting valuable products while minimizing material usage and maximizing recycled fibre content. Stronger boxes, lighter packs, and a circular solution come together, empowering brands to deliver outstanding solutions to consumers and support global environmental goals.”
