PakTech is excited to announce the formal recognition of its 4-Pack and 6-Pack 202 Standard Can Carriers by the Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR). The APR Design® for Recyclability Recognition offers third-party validation, confirming that a packaging component, assembly of components, or complete package aligns with the highest standards for recyclability as outlined in the APR Design® Guide for Plastics Recyclability. This guide covers a wide spectrum of design features crucial to enhancing plastics recycling.

The validation process for APR Design® for Recyclability Recognition includes a thorough engineering assessment to evaluate the compatibility of a product’s design with current plastics recycling processes. This assessment ensures that the products can be effectively recycled within the North American recycling system.

PakTech, along with its customers, places a strong emphasis on recyclability as part of a broader commitment to sustainability in food and drink packaging. With this recognition, the geographic scope of recyclability validation for PakTech’s 4-Pack and 6-Pack 202 Standard Can Carriers is broadened. These can carriers have already achieved recyclability certifications in Australia and the European Union, thereby enhancing customer confidence globally that PakTech’s products comply with essential recyclability standards.

“Our products are a second-life product, where we have gone through extensive measures to design and develop products made exclusively with post-consumer recycled HDPE plastic derived from consumer waste. This reduces the depletion of fossil fuels, keeps plastic from being waste, provides the lowest possible carbon footprint, and contributes to a better environment for future generations,” said Gary Panknin, Sustainability Officer at PakTech. “The APR Recognition validates that not only are PakTech products part of the circular economy by keeping valuable materials in reuse, but are designed for recyclability where the material can be again collected and recycled for further reuse into existing end markets. You can’t get much better than that!”

“APR congratulates PakTech for taking action to improve the recyclability of their packaging and taking the steps to receive APR Design® for Recyclability Recognition,” said Steve Alexander, APR president & CEO. “Recyclable packaging means less waste, more efficient use of limited natural resources, and more high-quality post-consumer resin (PCR) for new products.”
