Mondi, a global leader in sustainable packaging and paper solutions, has announced the launch of its advanced extrusion line at Mondi Coating Štĕti in the Czech Republic. This development signifies a crucial step in the Group’s commitment to assist customers in migrating towards sustainable solutions, particularly in food and drink packaging.
The new extrusion line is part of a broader investment initiative, which features a cutting-edge production building equipped with state-of-the-art machinery, including coating and slitting capabilities. This investment enhances the production of FunctionalBarrier Papers and high-quality coated papers, providing paper-based solutions tailored with customized barrier properties. The applications for these innovations range widely from food and drink sustainable packaging to industrial uses, such as case linings for solid board and barrier liners for corrugated case materials. As a vital component of Mondi’s re/cycle portfolio, the innovative range of FunctionalBarrier Papers is designed to be recyclable within existing paper waste streams across Europe.
Marko Schuster, COO Functional Paper & Films at Mondi, states: “The start-up of our new extrusion line at Štětí reflects Mondi’s commitment to helping customers on their sustainability journey. It further contributes to meeting our own MAP2030 commitments by designing innovative packaging and paper solutions that keep materials in circulation and avoid waste. We are excited to continue collaborating closely with our customers and contributing to a circular economy.”
