Mondi, a global leader in sustainable packaging and paper, will showcase its extensive range of packaging solutions for the coffee industry at the HOST Milano event from 17 to 21 October 2025 in Pavilion 18, Stand K59. Attendees will discover how Mondi fulfills the evolving demands of modern roasters in accordance with PPWR regulations, utilizing innovative packaging materials that feature high barriers and exceptional machine runnability.
Mondi’s versatile portfolio encompasses sustainable primary and secondary packaging options constructed from paper, plastic, and hybrid materials, all designed for recyclability. It includes cutting-edge mono-material formats like SoftPack and VacuumPack in polypropylene (PP) or polyethylene (PE), as well as paper-based StickPacks and PodSachets. These solutions cater to all coffee applications—from ground coffee and whole beans to pods and capsules. Notably, with Ad/Vantage TrayWrap, Mondi provides a paper alternative to plastic for secondary packaging, achieving over 75%[1] CO2 emissions reduction while optimizing the packing process by eliminating the need for a shrink oven. Crafted from 100% kraft paper, this solution boasts a unique combination of mechanical properties and stretchability. Furthermore, Ad/Vantage TrayWrap is designed for recyclability, making it suitable for grouped packaging applications in alignment with forthcoming regulatory requirements across Europe.
Highlighting innovation, Mondi introduces the re/cycle VentPack—a next-generation degassing concept for coffee packaging. This innovative valve, pre-applied to the film, streamlines the packaging process for customers. With an ultra-thin, PP-based design, VentPack reduces plastic weight by up to 96% compared to conventional button valves, while also being fully recyclable as mono-PP packaging.
Mondi’s packaging solutions present numerous benefits for the coffee sector. Their high-quality barrier properties safeguard coffee from oxygen and moisture for up to 12 months, ensuring optimal freshness. Moreover, flexible printing options—incorporating creative flexographic and rotogravure techniques with matte and anti-seal coatings—enhance product presentation and shelf impact. Designed with sustainability in mind, these solutions help clients meet EU regulations. They also integrate seamlessly with existing filling lines, supported by Mondi’s Europe-wide production network, guaranteeing a reliable supply chain.
Additionally, Mondi provides FlexStudios, an innovation hub allowing customers to actively engage in the development process. Clients benefit from Mondi’s extensive expertise, material-neutral approach, and cutting-edge technology. Housing pilot lines, testing capabilities, and co-creation spaces under one roof, FlexStudios enable faster time-to-market innovations, compliance assurance, and promote sustainable advancements within the flexible packaging sector.
