Faerch today announces that Lars Gade Hansen has chosen to step down as CEO after successfully guiding the company through a pivotal period of growth and sustainability. Since taking the helm in 2009, Lars Gade Hansen has been instrumental in establishing Faerch as a global leader in circular food and drink packaging solutions.

Throughout his tenure, Lars Gade Hansen has steered Faerch through several critical milestones. Notably, he is only the fourth CEO since the company’s inception in 1969, underscoring the continuity of leadership at Faerch. Under his direction, the company evolved from a regional entity into an international powerhouse in sustainable food and drink packaging. This transformation was propelled by seven strategic acquisitions, including Sirap’s food packaging business and PACCOR Packaging, both of which significantly enhanced the company’s market position.

Moreover, during his leadership, Lars successfully navigated Faerch through ownership changes involving four different stakeholders and facilitated the company’s sale three times. He played a pivotal role in the acquisition by A.P. Møller Holding and oversaw the successful launch of the Cirrec plant in Duiven. Another landmark achievement was the acquisition of MCP, which laid the groundwork for future growth in the U.S. market and positioned Faerch for continued expansion. These efforts have firmly established Faerch as a market leader in sustainable packaging, with a strong emphasis on reducing environmental impact and promoting circularity.

Looking to an Exciting Future for Faerch In reflecting on his decision to step down, Lars Gade Hansen remarked, “It has been a profound honor to lead Faerch through such an exciting and transformative period. Together, we have pushed the boundaries of what is possible in sustainable packaging, and I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved. I leave Faerch knowing that the company is in excellent shape, with a strong foundation for continued growth and innovation. The future holds exciting possibilities for Faerch, and I am confident that the next chapter will be even more remarkable.”

Henrik Poulsen, Senior Advisor to A.P. Møller Holding and Chairman of the Board of Faerch, expressed his appreciation for Lars Gade Hansen’s leadership, stating, “Lars has been instrumental in shaping Faerch into the industry leader it is today. His vision and commitment to sustainability have not only driven significant growth but have also positioned Faerch as a pioneer in circular packaging. We are deeply grateful for his contributions and the strong legacy he leaves behind. While we will miss his leadership, we are excited about the future and the opportunities that lie ahead.”

Lars Gade Hansen’s succession plan has been meticulously crafted since late Summer 2024, ensuring a thoughtful transition as part of his decision to step down. Following his departure, he will continue as a senior advisor with A.P. Møller Holding, though his responsibilities will no longer include Faerch.

The search for a new CEO is currently in progress. In the interim, Lars Gade Hansen will remain in his role as Faerch CEO until his successor is appointed and prepared to take the reins. Faerch is steadfast in its commitment to leading the global transition towards sustainable food and drink packaging, emphasizing ongoing innovation and growth.
