La Doria, a renowned Italian food producer, has recently expanded its filling capacity by investing in a third SIG Safe 12 Food Retort filling line. This new line enables La Doria to fill canned food products with high solid particulate content in SIG carton packs, offering numerous logistical and sustainable benefits.

The SIG Safe 12 Food Retort filling line allows La Doria to utilize the innovative SIG SafeBloc carton packs for their food products. These carton packs offer advantages such as low weight, rectangular shape, and enhanced transportation and storage efficiency. Additionally, they maximize shelf space utilization, benefiting both manufacturers and retailers.

Compared to traditional options like cans or glass jars, SIG SafeBloc carton packs are a more sustainable packaging choice. They provide excellent product protection, ensuring the high-quality retention of items like vegetables and stews over an extended period. La Doria now fills a wide range of pulses on the new SIG Safe 12 Food Retort filling line in SIG SafeBloc carton packs, ranging from 200 ml to 500 ml.

Diodato Ferraioli, export sales director at La Doria, expressed the company’s satisfaction with their long-standing collaboration with SIG. This partnership spans over two decades and has contributed to the growth of La Doria’s business and the increased market share of carton packs in the food industry.

Ferraioli further stated, “Investing in our third SIG Safe 12 Food Retort filling line at our Sarno plant grants us optimum logistics, efficiency, flexibility, and sustainability options. Through continuous collaboration with SIG’s expert team, we can provide our retailers and consumers with convenient and sustainable packaging solutions for our food products.”

In 2022, La Doria successfully filled more than 100 million SIG carton packs with their food products, supplying major European retailers. Their ongoing partnership with SIG ensures La Doria’s competitiveness in a market where brands and retailers increasingly seek sustainable alternatives to traditional packaging like metal cans and glass jars. Commercial production on La Doria’s third SIG Safe 12 Food Retort filling line commenced in early 2023.

Paolo Volpari, head of marketing Europe at SIG, emphasized the growing popularity of carton packs for food products due to their excellent environmental performance and high level of convenience. He added, “Our innovative solutions not only meet the evolving needs of customers like La Doria but also resonate with environmentally conscious consumers who seek high-quality, long-life products in sustainable packaging.”
