In 2021, Dentis Recycling Italy S.r.l., the largest recycler of post-consumer PET bottles in Italy, embarked on an exciting project to expand its rPET production capacity. To achieve this, they invested in two state-of-the-art Starlinger recoSTAR PET 330 HC iV+ recycling systems. The commissioning of these new lines took place in the summer of 2022, enabling Dentis to transform used PET bottles into top-quality rPET pellets marketed under the brand name REPETER. Boasting a combined production capacity of 6.6 tons per hour, these lines yield an impressive annual output of 50,000 tons of premium bottle-grade rPET pellets.

By recycling a staggering total of 80,000 tons of post-consumer PET bottles collected through the efficient Italian collection systems managed by Corepla and Coripet, Dentis achieves a significant milestone this year. Looking ahead, with the completion of their capacity extension project in 2024, Dentis Recycling’s Piedmont site will have the potential to recycle approximately 130,000 tons of post-consumer PET bottles annually.

In support of the transition from a linear to a circular economy, Roberto Dentis, co-owner of Dentis Recycling Italy S.r.l, emphasizes the importance of upholding elevated standards in the production of recycled PET. Dentis chose Starlinger’s cutting-edge technology for its ability to meet the stringent requirements of customers in the food and beverage packaging sector. Dentis’ high-quality food-grade recycled PET pellets, marketed as REPETER, have revolutionized the concept of post-consumer plastic packaging. Instead of being considered waste, they are now recognized as valuable resources for top-tier packaging applications.

The Starlinger lines responsible for producing the food-grade rPET pellets, available in various colors, have garnered approvals for use in food packaging from prominent brand owners. Additionally, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) have expressed favorable opinions on the Starlinger PET recycling process. Dentis supplies these food-grade rPET pellets to key players in the food and beverage industry, as well as local plastic packaging producers.
