A company specializing in sustainable food and drink packaging technology has secured £750,000 in funding to support its expansion in the UK and globally.
The funding will enable OSY Group to accelerate the commercialization of Xtend, an antimicrobial packaging coating that extends the shelf-life of food produce, reducing waste.
With this financial boost, OSY Group plans to grow its team at the Manchester International Office Centre near Manchester Airport.
CEO Marc Braterman emphasized the importance of tackling food waste and greenhouse gas emissions: “Our innovative technology aims to reduce food waste on a global scale, decrease greenhouse gas emissions, and support grocers in achieving sustainability targets while opening up export opportunities for food producers.”
Xtend, a water-based antimicrobial coating, has been rigorously tested and proven safe for fresh produce packaging. It significantly extends the shelf-life of various packaging formats, benefiting lidding film, trays, and flexible packaging for food-to-go items.
Trials of Xtend have shown promising results with major UK retailers, soft fruit producers, and European packaging companies.
OSY Group’s recent fundraising efforts, including support from Innovate UK, have enabled the company to further develop its technology for sustainable food packaging solutions.
OSY Group’s participation in a global innovation program in Canada and Australia highlights its commitment to driving change in the food and drink packaging industry.
