Innovia Films, a leading material science company and top producer of BOPP films, has unveiled a new white ultra-low-density film designed specifically for ice cream flow wrap packaging.
“Summer calls for ice cream, and we’re excited to introduce our new VL40 white cavitated film, perfect for packaging our favorite summer treat. High-speed flow wrap packaging is a common method to preserve the quality of ice cream until it’s ready to be enjoyed,” said Alasdair McEwen, Head of the European Packaging Division at Innovia.
The development and successful launch of this new film grade took place at Innovia Films’ facility in PÅ‚ock, Poland. Piotr Piasny, General Manager at Innovia Films in PÅ‚ock, highlighted the film’s high-gloss white coextruded OPP structure with a wide heat seal range. Changes were made to the extrusion lines to deliver a film grade ideal for ice cream sandwiches and popsicles, offering high puncture resistance to prevent food waste and ensure product preservation. The film also boasts excellent printability for superior graphic appeal and easy package opening.
Resilient to climatic conditions, the film should be stored at temperatures below 104°F (40°C) for optimal shelf life, which spans up to 6 months under suitable storage conditions.
The VL40 film is now available for testing at Innovia Films in Poland. For inquiries about initiating a trial or obtaining more information, please reach out to packaging@innoviafilms.com.
