Guala Closures, a global leader in specialty beverage and pharmaceutical closure solutions, has acquired Vinventions’ screwcap production business in Rosarito, Mexico. This strategic move significantly enhances its manufacturing footprint in North America and bolsters its supply capabilities for the U.S. wine and spirits market, while also emphasizing its commitment to food and drink sustainable packaging.

Established in 2024, the Rosarito plant is a cutting-edge facility dedicated to producing high-quality 30×60 aluminium closures. It boasts a total installed capacity exceeding 200 million units annually, with room for further growth.

Thanks to its advantageous location and direct access to the North American market, this acquisition allows Guala Closures to gain additional capacity to meet the increasing demand from its U.S. wine and spirits customers. This ensures shorter lead times and an enhanced level of customer service within favorable transportation and trade conditions, aligning with industry trends in food and drink packaging.

“This investment marks a significant milestone in advancing our growth strategy for the North American wine closures market,” said Andrea Lodetti, CEO of Guala Closures. “By establishing a dedicated production site in Mexico, we complement our existing large plant in San José Iturbide, allowing us to be closer to our U.S. customers and respond more effectively to their needs—especially those of small and medium-sized winemakers who require a tailored, local, and flexible supply base. This transaction lays the groundwork for future expansions as we anticipate a continued increase in demand.”

Since 1979, Guala Closures has had a presence in Mexico through Guala Closures Mexico. Together with Guala Closures North America’s Fairfield facility, they have focused on serving wine and spirits customers across the U.S. market. With the U.S. wine market being a priority growth area, bolstered by consistent performance and strong results in recent years, this acquisition supports Guala Closures’ broader strategy of pursuing targeted acquisitions. This approach reinforces its leadership in high-value beverage closure segments and key geographic markets, while also enhancing its pursuit of sustainable packaging solutions.
