Brazilian biscuit maker Grupo Marilan has acquired local panettone producer Siena Alimentos.
The financial terms of this transaction remain undisclosed.
In a statement, Marilan emphasized that this deal “reinforces” its growth strategy.
Over the past five years, the company has executed its expansion plans by constructing a manufacturing facility in Igarassu, Pernambuco, and acquiring renowned bakery brands, Casa Suíça and Top Cau.
Grupo Marilan CEO Rodrigo Garla stated that the Siena Alimentos acquisition “drives our expansion in the panettone sector,” pointing out the category’s “great potential for growth and innovation, both in Brazil and in the international market.”
Founded in 1979, Siena Alimentos is recognized for its esteemed Roma and Festtone panettone brands.
According to its website, the company began operations in a modest 400 m2 family shed and expanded its headquarters in São José dos Pinhais in 1999, now occupying 15,000 m2.
Significantly, the facility boasts a production capacity exceeding ten million panettones annually, bolstered by strategic investments in technology and quality standards.
This transaction is currently pending approval from Brazil’s competition watchdog.
Until such approval is granted, both companies will continue their existing operational structures and maintain competitive conditions.
Headquartered in Marília, São Paulo, Marilan produces over 90 varieties of biscuits, ranging from sweet and savory to coated and filled products, under established brands like Marilan, Pit Stop, and TopCau Chocolates.
Marilan’s products reach consumers throughout Brazil and are exported to over 60 countries. The company employs more than 2,300 individuals and operates a 67,000 m2 facility.
Marilan has not provided further comments regarding the details of this acquisition.
