For packaging manufacturers, the need to use a range of different heat seal coatings to ensure optimal performance and safety can result in increased costs and complexity in production, supply chains, and inventories. Henkel aims to address these challenges with the development of Loctite Liofol HS 1181, a universal and high-performing heat seal coating for sealing aluminum foil or polyester film to plastic substrates.
Loctite Liofol HS 1181 offers improved formulations, is food-safe, and complies with the highest safety standards. This ready-to-use solution eliminates the requirement for multiple coatings, making it an ideal choice for various applications such as plastic coffee capsules, peelable dairy lidding, water bins, and pharmaceutical blister packaging. With its strong sealing and hot tack properties, this heat seal coating is suitable for aluminum foil and polyester film and can be sealed to various plastic substrates including PS, PP, PET, PE, and PVC. Additionally, at low coating weights, Loctite Liofol HS 1181 provides a peelable seal. It does not contain Chlorine and Epoxy, ensuring compliance with food contact standards such as those set by the FDA and EC.
“Loctite Liofol HS 1181 demonstrates our commitment to innovation by offering manufacturers unprecedented flexibility and eliminating previously unavoidable compromises,” highlights Davide Coppola, Senior Business Development Manager at Henkel. “This universal sealing product allows manufacturers to optimize cost and minimize complexity by using a single heat seal solution for multiple packaging applications. Moreover, the formulation of this product incorporates safer chemicals, providing consumers with food packaging materials that meet the highest safety standards. In essence, it is a truly universal solution.”
