The Pro Carton and European Carton Makers Association (ECMA) Awards ceremony held in Seville, Spain, recognized the outstanding contributions of British packaging designers and innovative students to the packaging industry. These creative designs were commended for their excellence and impact.
Huhtamaki’s McDonald’s Delivery Cuff was awarded the Food & Drink Recycled Fibre Winner at the European Carton Excellence Award (ECEA). Nang Htwe Htwe Lwin, a student from Ravensbourne University, won the Creative Cartonboard: Food and Drink Winner category for her design Urban Bite at the Pro Carton Young Designers Award (PCYDA). Joe Lynch, a student from the University of Surrey, was recognized as a finalist for his creative video entry “The Pro Carton Hero” in the Pro Carton Student Video Award (PCSVA).
Highlighting the McDonald’s Delivery Cuff
Huhtamaki, a leading global provider of sustainable food and drink packaging, developed the McDonald’s Delivery Cuff using recycled MM BOARD & PAPER cartonboard. The innovative design secured Huhtamaki the ECEA Food & Drink Recycled Fibre Award. The packaging concept ensures safe and hygienic delivery of McDonald’s products with a seal made of folding cartonboard and adhesive strips. The cuff can be easily opened using strategically placed tear strips, guaranteeing uncontaminated delivery.
Innovative Cartonboard Packaging for Confectionery
Nang Htwe Htwe Lwin, a student from Ravensbourne University, won the PCYDA Creative Cartonboard Packaging: Food & Drink category with her design UrbanBITE. This environmentally dynamic cartonboard design for confectionery products offers a sustainable alternative to plastic containers. The aesthetically pleasing design is compactly constructed using a single cut piece of A4 paper cartonboard. Its dimensions can be customized for specific products, offering a versatile option for both consumers and manufacturers.
Bringing a Pro Carton Hero to Life
Joe Lynch, a finalist in the PCSVA, created the innovative video “The Pro Carton Hero”. The video personifies Pro Carton as a superhero dedicated to promoting cartonboard packaging to address environmental issues. It highlights the benefits of cartonboard and its positive impact on the environment. Joe Lynch’s submission stood out for its creativity and innovation.
