In autumn 2023, Henry and Barry Chevallier Guild made the strategic move to acquire Bruha Brewing Co. Since this acquisition, they have dedicated their efforts to preparing for the brand’s relaunch and developing an innovative product range that honors its East Anglian heritage.

Previously, the brothers held prominent positions at Aspall, where they accumulated significant experience in the beverage industry.

Established in 2014 and operating out of Eye, Suffolk, the company will now conduct business as ‘BRUHA Brewing’. Anticipation is building for the launch of their revamped website, set to debut in the new year.

The refreshed product line features six keg beers under the sub-brand The Chevallier Brewing Company. The offerings include Temple Helles, Trapnell Pale, Cornwallis EYE PA, Suffolk Blonde, Pressburger Pils, and Paladin Suffolk Stout.

Additionally, Bruha will introduce a selection of themed cask ales that incorporate a “contemporary twist.”

Aspall of East Anglian Beer

Henry Chevallier Guild emphasized the brothers’ ambition for Bruha, expressing their goal of establishing it as one of the “region’s most successful beer brands.”

He stated, “Essentially, we want to be the Aspall of the East Anglian beer world.”

“We intend to endorse our existing strong links in the region and make incredible beer without compromise.”

Chevallier Guild also mentioned their attraction to Bruha due to its “state of the art equipment” and the expertise of head brewer Marc Medland.

“This combination allows us to make beers of the very highest quality, whilst at the same time ensuring they’re very accessible to consumers,” he added.

Commenting on the naming process for their inaugural beer range, Chevallier Guild highlighted that each name connects back to their family or the local area.

He concluded, “It is really important to us that we have a strong heritage story that defines the region. What is also really unique is that all the beers are made using Chevallier barley, which was first grown at Aspall Hall by John ‘Barley’ Chevallier, our 4x great grandfather.”

“Using our ancestors’ heritage barley not only reinforces that local story, but it is also a fabulous ingredient that Marc really enjoys working with as it lends a distinct character to our beer.”
