Anritsu Ltd has launched its class-leading X-ray inspection equipment, the brand new XR75 DualX+, targeting the global fish processing market following a successful introduction in the poultry sector.

The XR75 DualX+ brings cutting-edge technology to a market anticipated to reach $624 billion in 2023. Its advanced photon counting technology, supported by a proprietary algorithm, specifically targets low-density contaminants such as fish bones. This results in notably sharper images, enhancing detection capabilities while minimizing false rejection rates.

Additionally, the new dual-energy sensor pushes the boundaries of conventional detection performance, ensuring unmatched product safety for popular fish products including salmon, tuna, shredded fish, block fish, and beyond.

Notably, the XR75 DualX+ excels in detecting poultry bones and other fine fragments as well. The sensor has been recalibrated to accommodate thicker products and those with uneven surfaces, significantly improving its sensitivity. It can accurately detect tiny bones, fine metals, and low-density contaminants, consistently adhering to stringent global hygiene standards.

This innovative technology has already garnered recognition, winning the Innovation Award at its launch in the Italian market during the Cibus Tec show.

Michael Stuart, Anritsu’s European sales director, emphasized how the new sensor facilitates the capture of high-resolution images, enhancing the detection of fine metals and small bones. It routinely identifies contaminants as small as 1mm in diameter.

“This is especially noticeable with fish product applications that are thicker than 40mm,” Stuart explained. “The DualX+ model is an incredible technological step forward.”

As the leader in food inspection technology, Anritsu anticipates that the introduction of the DualX+ in the global fish processing industry will lead to a significant increase in contaminant detections, thereby enhancing consumer safety and product quality.

Michael Stuart added: “Not only do we make the safest x-ray machines in the world, we are developing them specifically for some of the largest markets, with the aim of making fish products even safer for consumers.”

“Our customers understand that when they invest in our systems, they are acquiring the best technology, saving time, and avoiding the additional costs of product recalls and repeat production runs. Anritsu has a proud heritage, and the DualX+ represents a significant leap toward providing the food and beverage packaging industry with a future free from undesirable fish bones.”
