170 years of operations celebrated by SIG

170 years of operations celebrated by SIG 170 years, celebrates, Operations, SIG Food and Beverage Business

Founded in 1853 and headquartered in Neuhausen, Switzerland, SIG recently hosted global customers on a tour ‘through the ages’ and held an intensive two-day leadership meeting.

In 1930, Europe saw the launch of the first beverage carton and filling machine. However, it wasn’t until 1955 that SIG’s revolutionary bag-in-box format transformed the distribution of liquid storage.

In 1975, PKL, a beverage carton provider, introduced its combibloc aseptic packaging and filling system. SIG acquired PKL in 1989, paving the way for growth in aseptic packaging.

Today, SIG is the leading sustainable packaging solutions provider, claiming to be the world’s only system supplier covering carton, spouted pouch, and bag-in-box.

According to Samuel Sigrist, the CEO of SIG, “Being in operation for 170 years is something to celebrate. It was an excellent opportunity for us to showcase the spirit of SIG to our global customers and employees. The events highlighted the fact that while SIG has evolved over time, our commitment to delivering better for customers, consumers, and the world has remained unwavering.”
