£11m invested by Roberts Mart for facility upgrades

In Leeds, the sixth generation, family-owned and managed company is making a significant investment of over £7m in the construction of a new single-storey warehouse extension. This extension will be added to the main site building, further expanding the company’s facilities.

Additionally, the ink store will undergo an extension as part of this project.

As part of their latest equipment investment, the company has allocated €4m towards the acquisition of an Allstein Hydro 10 colour flexo printing press. They have also purchased a new Comexi Slitter machine, which incorporates cutting-edge laser technology.

Prior to this investment, the company had already spent €500,000 on a new Pouch machine earlier in the year.

According to William Roberts, the managing director, these investments are intended to “future-proof” the business. He highlights that the new flexo printing press has a maximum running speed of 500 metres per minute and is equipped with the latest A RUN technology, which reduces set-up time and material waste. Furthermore, the slitting machine’s laser technology enables microperforation and macroperforation for various applications, allowing the company to handle numbering, barcodes, QR codes, and security systems that would traditionally be done off-line on a flexo press. Roberts emphasizes that all equipment investments align with their sustainable goals, aiming to minimize waste and reduce their carbon footprint.

Headquartered in Leeds, Roberts Mart supplies packaging solutions for brands across the UK and Europe. With a staff of 220 employees, they primarily serve the FMCG sector, working with companies such as Highland Spring and John Cotton Group.
