Walker’s Shortbread has appointed Bryony Walker as its new commercial director, effective immediately. She joins the company’s board of directors at a pivotal time.
Since her start at Walker’s in 2013, Bryony has advanced through various roles, with her latest position being head of commercial strategy since January 2022. Her ascent reflects her dedication and expertise in food manufacturing.
A fourth-generation member of the Walker’s family, Bryony carries on a legacy established by her great-grandfather, Joseph Walker, who founded the company. Her father, the late Sir Jim Walker, served as joint managing director.
Bryony succeeds Steve McCarney, who will transition to a part-time role while remaining on the board. This change underscores a strategic move towards continuity in leadership.
“Bryony brings a deep understanding of our family dynamic, our customers, the Walker’s brand and the challenges involved in the role,” remarked Nicky Walker, managing director of Walker’s Shortbread Ltd.
“Bryony’s fresh perspective, combined with the strong foundations already in place, will ensure commercial continuity for the business.”
“We are also delighted Steve will continue to be an active member of the board, as well as providing ongoing support to Bryony.
“His dedication and commercial expertise over the past seven years have been pivotal in our successful brand relaunch and growth aspirations. I look forward to working with Steve in his new role at both Board level and on specified commercial projects.”
In her own words, Bryony stated: “Since joining the family business over a decade ago, I have focused on understanding the intricacies of the business, our customers, and the environment in which we operate.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed collaborating with Steve under his leadership and support. I eagerly anticipate the challenge ahead, building upon the achievements Steve has made as I contribute to the next chapter of Walker’s, following in my father’s footsteps.”
Lastly, Walker’s also announced the conclusion of Bob Brannan’s tenure as Company Chairman, which took effect at the company’s recent AGM.
