In an exciting development for the UK retail landscape, discount retailer Lidl plans to launch four brand new stores across Britain within a month. The new locations will be in Canning Town, Preston, Walsall, and Wombourne.

Additionally, Lidl will re-open and expand existing stores in Blantyre, Cwmbran, Oldbrook, Wells, and West Ealing. This initiative builds on the momentum created by ten store openings preceding Christmas, along with the Northampton stores that debuted in early January.

These store openings represent a significant investment in local economies, creating hundreds of new jobs for residents. Notably, Lidl offers “industry-leading maternity and adoption leave, enhanced holiday entitlement and an in-store discount.”

Richard Taylor, chief development officer at Lidl GB, emphasized the company’s commitment to growth, stating: “As we begin the new year, we’re maintaining our momentum and opening nine state-of-the-art stores, delivering bigger and better shopping experiences to new communities and those we’ve proudly served for an average of 26 years.”

“After a record-breaking Christmas, where millions of households turned to Lidl, these openings reflect the growing demand for our unbeatable value and quality. This is just the start – we’ve got more openings in the pipeline this year alone and can’t wait to welcome even more customers, both loyal and new, through our doors in the weeks ahead.”

Currently, Lidl employs over 34,000 individuals across its 970 stores and 14 distribution centers in England, Scotland, and Wales.

Aldi Achieves £11 Million Charity Milestone

Aldi has successfully raised £11 million for the Teenage Cancer Trust since beginning its partnership with the charity in 2017. The initiative has engaged employees across over 1,050 stores, the national head office, and 11 regional distribution centers in various fundraising activities, ranging from bake sales to marathons.

Furthermore, Aldi’s customers have played a pivotal role by contributing donations at their local stores.

The funds generated help support specialist nurses, youth workers, and dedicated hospital units within the NHS that cater to 13 to 24-year-olds diagnosed with cancer.

“Our colleagues continue to go above and beyond in their commitment to supporting Teenage Cancer Trust, just as they have done throughout our partnership,” remarked Liz Fox, national sustainability director at Aldi UK.

“Reaching this incredible milestone wouldn’t have been possible without their efforts and the remarkable generosity of our customers. Teenage Cancer Trust’s work is essential in providing life-changing support to young people affected by cancer, and we are proud to continue offering our support this year and beyond.”
