Cameron, who previously held the position of director of Marketing and Communications at Quality Meat Scotland, brings over 20 years of experience in the food and drinks industry.

In her previous roles, Cameron has worked with renowned businesses such as Kettle Produce, Macsween of Edinburgh, and Baxters Food Group. With her extensive background, she is well-equipped to tackle the challenges faced by the bakery sector, including legislative changes and cost constraints.

Ian McGhee, president of Scottish Bakers and director of McGhee’s Bakery, expressed his delight in securing Cameron for the position. He emphasized the importance of her strategic engagement, commercial acumen, and marketing expertise in furthering the organization’s agenda and supporting the thriving bakery sector.

As the newly appointed CEO, Cameron recognizes the significant contributions of the bakery sector to the Scottish economy, generating over £1 billion in revenue and providing employment for approximately 12,000 individuals. Her primary responsibility lies in representing the organization’s members in strategic discussions with policymakers, industry partners such as Scotland Food and Drink, Skills Development Scotland, and other influential decision-making bodies.

Furthermore, Cameron acknowledges the dynamic nature of the industry, where health and sustainability are vital components of consumers’ purchasing decisions. She also highlights the pressing global climate emergency, which necessitates adjustments in production costs, food labeling, and product reformulation, resulting in increased complexity within the retail environment.
