Local investors acquire Italian bakery Casa della Piada Bakery and Cereal Food and Beverage Business

Casa della Piada, an Italy-based bakery products manufacturer, has been acquired by local investment firms Wise Equity and Fondo Italiano d’Investimento. The Milan-based investors purchased the business from another investment firm, Aksìa, for an undisclosed amount. It is understood that Wise has taken a majority stake in the company.

The acquisition was carried out by Wise Equity through its Wise Equity VI fund, while Fondo Italiano d’Investimento used its Italian Private Equity Co-investment Fund, also known as Fipec. Casa della Piada was previously owned by Aksìa through its Aksìa Capital IV fund since 2018.

Fondo Italiano d’Investimento aims to help the Modena-based company expand its export business. Established in 1974 by the Montagnani family, Casa della Piada produces a variety of Italian bread products, including piadena and tigelle, as well as other baked goods. The company operates five manufacturing plants and supplies large retailers in Italy with brands such as Casa della Piada and Gastone.

A turnover of more than €50m ($54.1m) is projected for Casa della Piada in 2024. Fondo Italiano d’Investimento, founded in 2010 with the support of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, described Casa della Piada as a well-established company with great development prospects in Italy and other European markets. The Fipec fund focuses on investing in companies in sectors such as agriculture, food, and ‘made in Italy’ supply chains.

Wise Equity also sees the potential for expanding Casa della Piada’s flatbread-type products in foreign markets. The investment firm highlighted the solid management team, attractive market position, and growth prospects of the company as key drivers for the acquisition. Wise Equity senior partner Stefano Ghetti expressed his satisfaction in supporting Casa della Piada’s growth and expansion plans.

Casa della Piada CEO Marco Vespasiano, who participated in the investment to ensure continuity in management, expressed excitement about the collaboration with Wise Equity. With 20 years of experience in similar industries, Wise Equity’s industrial approach and expertise in acquisitions make them the right partner to support Casa della Piada’s growth in Italy and abroad.

Overall, the acquisition of Casa della Piada by Wise Equity and Fondo Italiano d’Investimento represents a strategic move to strengthen the company’s position in the food and beverage industry. The partnership is expected to drive further growth and expansion opportunities for Casa della Piada within Italy and beyond.
