This year at IFFA in Frankfurt, the Multivac Group will demonstrate how sliced products can be processed efficiently and cost-effectively in various output categories through innovative line solutions.
Among the impressive range of exhibits, attendees can expect to see a high-output slicing line specifically designed for processing raw ham products, alongside a versatile slicing line developed for standard diameter products.
One of the standout features at the exhibition will be a high-output slicing line for raw ham, engineered to achieve exceptional efficiency. Powered by a new function of Multivac Line Control (MLC), known as “Uninterrupted product change,” this line empowers operators to switch seamlessly between different items during operation. This process eliminates production interruptions and avoids running the line empty, reducing downtime by up to 95 percent. Furthermore, this enhancement optimizes resource utilization, significantly minimizing product loss, as well as the consumption of film, labels, and energy.
All modules within the line automatically adjust to accommodate the new item—ranging from slicing to feeding products to packaging and labeling machines, and extending to quality inspection. This automation minimizes manual intervention and mitigates the risk of errors. The centralized Multivac Line Control ensures a straightforward operation, making the change process intuitive and transparent even for untrained personnel. Consequently, this line solution not only guarantees maximum process reliability but also delivers consistently high-pack quality. Additionally, production orders can be transmitted directly to the line, further reducing the likelihood of operating errors.
This line also showcases a commitment to sustainability, particularly concerning the packaging materials utilized, such as recyclable mono films. With the “Consumption monitoring” feature, the line tracks the consumption of compressed air, coolant, energy, and packaging material in real time, enabling early detection of any gradual over-consumption of resources.
Traditionally, the slicing of products involves a freezing process that consumes substantial energy. However, Multivac’s advanced slicer technology excels in this area: it enables precise slicing at higher product temperatures, thanks to an optimized slicing unit. By applying minimal amounts of vegetable oil as a food release spray between the slices, using the Multivac Sustainable Liquid Interleaver, the line eliminates the need for conventional interleaving films.
Furthermore, when slicing standard diameter products and packaging them in thermoformed packs, Multivac will showcase a flexible and efficient line built to meet the highest quality standards. This slicer delivers exceptional slicing quality without requiring blast freezing, resulting in significant energy savings. One of the key advantages of this line is its industry-leading simplicity in terms of operation, cleaning, and maintenance. Designed specifically for its core functions, this compact line solution offers high output for standard diameter products such as salami or cooked sausage while maintaining a small footprint.
