The implementation of state-of-the-art dry end technology from BMS Maschinenfabrik, part of the EOL Group, is significantly enhancing operational efficiencies at two of Austria’s well-respected private breweries.

Both Brewmasters in Zwettl and Hirt opted for EOL Group as their technology partner, committing approximately €3 to €4 million each to upgrade their end-of-line packaging processes. Their choice was motivated by a desire for increased flexibility, improved output, and effective project management—key attributes of EOL Group’s dry end solutions.

The dry end line installed at Zwettl represents a remarkable advancement in performance. Launched amidst ongoing production, this system now processes up to 36,000 bottles every hour, reflecting a 20% boost compared to its predecessor.

This cutting-edge technology enables smoother operations, enhances bottle handling, and features a design that integrates the brewery’s existing visitor stage, showcasing the versatility of the EOL Group’s engineering solutions.

Heinz Wasner, the plant manager, commended the “smooth and professional” coordination throughout the process, noting that the deployment and commissioning of the dry end technology adhered perfectly to the planned schedule.

Hirt Brewery’s recent investment builds on an enduring collaboration, as a BMS repackaging system has been utilized for 25 years. The latest installation, finalized in June 2025, features a sorting unpacker capable of processing up to 30,000 bottles hourly.

A notable advancement is the collaborative development of a packaging unit for 0.33-litre returnable bottles in six-bottle carriers, which enhances Hirt’s efficiency and sustainability in managing returnable workflows. Managing director Raimund Linzer emphasized the openness in communication and dependability of the EOL Group’s project management.

Throughout both breweries, the EOL Group served as the primary interface coordinator, effectively addressing mechanical, software, and spatial issues—such as low ceiling heights and multi-supplier integration—promptly. The installation and commissioning phases were each completed in about six weeks while production remained uninterrupted.

The outcome is a transformational improvement in end-of-line capabilities, resulting in higher throughput, enhanced reliability, ergonomic benefits, and packaging solutions that are ready for the future. Both breweries express high levels of satisfaction months after the project’s completion, reinforcing the EOL Group’s reputation as a reliable partner for advancing beverage production.
