Amcor, a frontrunner in sustainable packaging solutions, has unveiled its newest offering tailored for the condiment and sauce sector: the 55 mm Flava Flip Top Closure 38/400.

This innovative closure is specifically engineered for high-viscosity items like mayonnaise, ketchup, and sweet sauces, providing food and beverage producers a way to lessen their environmental impact while ensuring ease of use for consumers.

The Flava closure marks a notable advancement in the journey towards circularity, delivering a lighter alternative to conventional 38/400 neck finish caps.

Manufacturers are particularly drawn to the closure’s material efficiency. Amcor has successfully reduced the weight by 1.9 grams, lowering the cap’s weight to a mere 8.5 grams, which signifies an 18.7% relative decrease compared to its predecessor in the 55mm Flip Top Closure line.

For large manufacturers, these reductions can lead to diminished Scope 3 emissions and decreased plastic tax obligations. “The new Flava Flip Top Closure will help customers reach their carbon reduction targets thanks to its lighter design,” remarked Peter Briggs, UK sales director for food and beverage at Amcor.

In addition to its weight advantages, the Flava closure is designed for integration into existing recycling systems. Its notable features include:

– Mono-material design, which eases the recycling process.
– Recyclability, as it is compatible with PET, HDPE, and PP bottles where recycling infrastructure exists.
– Compatibility with a range of PET and HDPE containers from Amcor’s extensive portfolio.

Available in a selection of colors and orifice sizes, the closure showcases circular valves that guarantee clean dispensing.

While sustainability plays a crucial role in its development, Amcor has prioritized user experience. The flip-top format is crafted to withstand frequent handling while ensuring a clean pour.

“Weight saving is critical in reducing the carbon impact of the closure, but it does not compromise performance,” Briggs further emphasized. “Getting this balance right is crucial for consumers. They can be reassured that the product can be dispensed cleanly and easily.”

As food and beverage manufacturers encounter increasing pressure to achieve their 2030 sustainability targets, the Flava closure offers a straightforward solution that effectively merges high-volume industrial performance with the principles of a circular economy.
