Amcor has created a bespoke flip-top closure for Spanish sauce producer Choví, reinforcing its expertise in responsible food and drink packaging solutions.

Established in 1953, Choví is one of Spain’s best-known sauce brands. As an existing Amcor customer, the company chose the packaging specialist for this development because of its established closure expertise and Spanish production capabilities.

The new closure is being introduced across Choví’s sauce portfolio for salads, barbecues and snacks. The range includes La Brava, Allioli, Cheddar, Kebab White, Ajonesa, Barbacoa, Ketchup, César, Yogur and Miel y Mostaza.

Featuring two colours and a silicone valve, the customised closure regulates the amount of sauce released during pouring. Its bi-injection construction uses polypropylene throughout, while the curved profile gives the bottle a distinctive appearance on the shelf. The durable design also supports a more reliable consumer experience.

“We have created this unique closure to appeal to the consumer in a variety of ways,” said Amcor sales director Mirko Todeschi. “It is a fresh and exciting look for Choví, delivering shelf differentiation against rival sauce brands. Ease of use was key to the design, allowing the user to pour the sauce in a controlled way. In addition, our collaborative approach enabled on-time turnaround and fast delivery.”

David Moya Aparicio, Gerente de Logística y Compras de Grupo Choví added: “Amcor is a trusted partner of ours and the company has delivered a flip top closure that enhances the user experience. A consumer’s first interaction after purchase will be with the closure and it was critical that this flip top version worked smoothly. Amcor has delivered and with its local knowledge and manufacturing capabilities, we are proud to say that this innovation is made in Spain for a Spanish brand.”

The project reflects several wider food and beverage industry trends, including food manufacturing trends focused on functional design, advances in food processing technology and evolving food distribution trends. It also demonstrates how food and drink industry innovation can support food and drink sustainability goals while responding to food and drink regulations, food and drink marketing priorities and changing food and drink consumer trends.
