Amcor has recently unveiled a state-of-the-art production line at its Swansea site, dedicated to the production of PVdC-free shrink bags and films for the meat and cheese industry. This move is driven by Amcor’s commitment to providing a more sustainable alternative in the market.
With a focus on sustainability and improved performance, the new material offers exceptional optical properties while being thinner than traditional options. By utilizing a high barrier PVdC-free formulation, Amcor aims to extend the shelf life of highly perishable food products such as meat, contributing to the reduction of food waste figures.
One standout product from Amcor’s range is the PrimeSeal Crystal Shield, which offers extra robustness and additional protection against punctures and leakage. This specialized packaging is designed to extend the shelf life of all types of meat and non-gassing cheese.
Robert Kleinschmidt, the Vice President of Amcor’s meat, fish & poultry business unit, commented on the investment, stating, “With our latest shrink line, we can now produce thinner, PVdC-free shrink bags and films that not only maintain the same transparency and protective qualities as existing solutions but also surpass them in terms of performance and reduced plastic usage.”
Amcor’s dedication to sustainable practices extends beyond this latest investment. The company has also announced its collaboration with Aludium to develop low-carbon screwcaps, further demonstrating their commitment to reducing their carbon footprint.
Rosalia Rosalinova, Senior Marketing Manager at Amcor, emphasized the company’s dedication to its customers and providing more sustainable packaging options for the meat and dairy industries. She added, “The investment in this new production line demonstrates our dedication to our customers and to offering more sustainable packaging options.”
Amcor’s new production line offers a variety of products in its PrimeSeal packaging range for meat and DairySeal packaging range for cheese, including the Crystal Shield 75 shrink bag, Eco-Tite, Cook-Tite, Flow-Tite, and Form-Tite. These products allow Amcor to cater to a wide range of packaging needs within the food manufacturing industry.
Amcor’s investment in this innovative production line not only showcases their commitment to sustainability but also highlights their ongoing efforts to provide superior packaging solutions that meet the evolving needs of the food manufacturing sector.
